Cultures of France Students Discuss What It Means to Be French

On 16 July, students in WLC 310: Culture/s of France engaged in a live discussion via Zoom with Philippe Foutrel (an insurance agent in the Rouen area) about France today, what it might mean to be "French," and the many paradoxes of French society.

Dr. Kennelly met Mr. Foutrel during the summer of 1985 when he first went to France and interned at the business of Mr. Foutrel's late father (La Caisse d'Epargne) as a 20 year-old undergraduate majoring in French at UC, Davis.
